Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

'ear! 'ear!

This week I'm concentrating on my ears.

Like the British say, "'ear, 'ear!!"

Anyhoo, we can listen to two noises at once! Yes, it does get scrambled sometimes, but having two ears that scan the room, reach out to noises not heard by humans, WE DON'T MISS A THING!

You can tell I'm hearing stuff here cuz my brain wheels are turning as I take it all in and ponder, or maybe ignore, even though my ears are poised at 90 degrees. At 11 years of age, I'm an ear veteran and I've heard it all before. Like here, a real ho-hum. But, maybe, just can see I'm trying to decide.

Every once in awhile we hear something out of the ordinary and have to investigate. That's when the fun really begins.

That's right. We hear everything - the good, the bad and the boring - even secrets, but we are everybuddy's best buddy because, you know why?
We never tell!!!

Isn't that right? Unless, of course, we have a blog, then all bets are off...!!

Oh!!! I almost forgot! We've hit the 1,000 mark for comments on my blog! I know, it doesn't look like many each week, but every one counts. Thank you! (I hope that means I get special treats, extra nip and a belly rub!)

Tom, we know that you felines can hear EVERYTHING!
We also know that you know EVERYTHING, but won't tell the humans any secrets!
I ask Da Boyz all of the time to help me solve my sudoku puzzles, but they decline.
Someday, perhaps, they will relent...

How long have you been rapping Tom, or should I call you Snoop Catt?

Mom's always laughing at me 'cause I'm the same way. She and dad watch my ears doing their thing independently of each other. I'm not sure why it's so funny.

Concats on the milestone! We hope you get extra treats too.

We are particularly perplexed by the early fireworks here--we would definitely tell *that* if we knew who to meow to!

One ear to hear the treats bag and another ear to ignore the humans!
Make sure you get extra treats for all of the comments.
