Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Mancat Memorial Day Thoughts

Hi, catguys and catgals,

Today is Memorial Day and the housekeeper and I were looking around the photos and graphics we've collected over the years and came across a few featuring our own stars and stripes. One had me with a peace sign on my collar and there was another which featured a political statement. I didn't want to use either one.

Here is my favorite, paws down of me sleeping on a rather old colonial version of our flag when our population wasn't all that big and our war casualties hadn't added up quite so much.

Prompting this thought I want to share.

I looked up this guy and he's a Scottish journalist. I respect his comment and find it's so very true.

To all who have given the ultimate sacrifice and to those whose memories confirm Mr. Massie's sentiment, we send our prayers and our thanks.

Have a blessed Memorial Day.

A Bogie Monday

Hi, effurybody!

I'm at a loss for words. I guess that's what Mr. Eastman of Eastman Kodak said when he invented roll film so we could all take pictures. Then, a smartie pants said, "A picture is worth a thousand words." And the photo essay came to be. This blog will never have a thousand words..

But, it will have a photo, featuring the one human I've always looked up to.

Humphrey Bogart.

He knew how to handle women.

And he handled them with the kind of finesse that only made them want him more.

My hat is off to you, sir.. or, maybe I'll just keep it on.

This could be the start of a beauti-fur friendship!

Mancat Monday Playground

Hi, effurrybody!

Hope you all had a nice weekend and celebrated Mother's Day in style and shared goodies!

I just realized a few days ago how part of our living room is set up with all sorts of scratchy things, almost like a playground. Inclined scratchies, toy mice, the windowsill close by, a round and round ball toy and an S scratcher which I really like. All regularly sprinkled with nip!! (that's why I'm a little woozy in the photo)

And because we have a lot of things that keep our scratching needs in line, the furniture doesn't interest either me or my friend Bridget. I've caught her scratching at the rug when she stretches, but I don't tell the housekeeper. It's too much fun having her get caught and being put in time out (just kidding).

Hope you have plenty of favorite spots to play in!

Or sleep!!

Seis de Mayo

Okay, so I'm a showoff with my Spanish!

How was your Cinco de Mayo, my friends?

Did you eat catoes..I mean tacos?

Enjoy refurred beans?

Listen to a meowiachi band?

Drink some Mexican niptinis?

I did all cuatro and boy, did I feel sick after all that celebrating and all
I wanna do is sleep.

They even sent me up in my gondola, the Flying Fish, can you believe it?

So, I'm making this short so I can get my rest.

Enjoy the week, my friends! Any cat who wants a ride in the Flying Fish, let me know. The balloons might all be popped or dead, but we can pretend.

Hot airingly yours,
Tom

PeeEss - A couple of you have been checking in, but I can't find you so I can return the favor. If you have a new site or location, let us know. Thank mew.
