Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

 Hi, Mancat Mondayers!!

Heck, I almost forgot to post! I hope I'm not losing my mind!

It's Memorial Day, 2021 and it's raining, cold and quiet. It's great for a nap, so Bridget, Penny and I probably will sleep most of the day. A friend reminded the housekeeper and fellow humans that our thoughts on this day of remembrance really should go on all the time. I agree. There are those who fought, those who died and the VA hospital is full of those who won't ever forget their own experiences in war.

Here's to dreams of a better world!

And, here's Penny.

She says, "Where there's cuteness, there's hope!"

Absolutely, I say!

Something Nice and New

Hi, furriends ~

That's right. New isn't always a good thing, but when someone says nice and new, that's different.

What's nice and new is my header. And, dear ones, there's a story behind it. The quote from me that I've added was the first thing out of my mouth when I became a cleric. There isn't anything in the Bible that I don't comment about. Now, it looks to me like five loaves would be more than enough for little old me. The two fishes? Perfect!

Back to the story and the miracle so all those people could have a nice lunch. Water gets turned into wine...(I wonder if the wine was watery!?)  Anyway, on top of that, all the loaves were multiplied because people back then didn't bring a lunch and Happy Harry's Mobile Weinie & Burger Heaven never made it..

I try to be respectful of what's contained in the Holy Book, but scenarios like this are just too tempting and besides, it's all the housekeeper's fault. She puts ideas into my head.

So,  I have a new header. It's almost like I have a new outfit.

Bada-bing!

PS - Last week Timmy Tomcat Cusack mentioned something about eye pressure since I talked about my glaucoma. Hope you don't have the same problem I have, pal. Take care.

A Closer Look: An Eye With a Veil Over It

 Hello, furriends ~

It's a new week and I'm wondering if I'm the only one who has thoughts like "I wonder what this week will bring. What will happen either in my world or everybody else's?"

Anyway, I'm told I'm a deep thinking cat. I just don't want to overdo it or else I'm not a cat anymore. I'll leave the problems of humans to them.

One thing I do have to deal with is my bad eye. The housekeeper has to order more meds for it. Two things are happening: I have a milky eye from a cataract (even though there's the word "cat" in the term, very few cats get this - lucky me!!) and I also have glaucoma, so eye pressure is an issue. Can't get too high or I'll go blind. Good thing I have a good, healthy cat-nose!!

You can kinda see it here in this photo. (I have a better one, but it's a little too graphic)

Now, the other kitties, Bridget and Penny don't have any health issues, but as all cat lovers know, that changes sometimes real fast and gets really scary. I'm the oldest and I have to set an example of how to handle this sort of stuff. Just in case they get sick.

So, a reorder of meds this week, burrito bundles so I don't freak out when the drops hit and usually a meal or treats after. I've kinda gotten used to the routine, but I still don't like it.

Enjoy your Monday as we kick off another week and remember, fellow kitties, we're in all this together.

Meow!

Can't We Get Any Peace Around Here?

Yeah, I definitely was purrturrbed as you can tell, but I don't remember about what.  Maybe it was Bridget and something she said or did. Or, maybe it was someone knocking at the door. It almost looks like I'm saying.."You mean I woke up for this?" (go away, you bleepity-bleeping bleep!)

We'll be getting our new roof estimate this week. Maybe the housekeeper'll have this same expression when she hears it! Either that, or no expression, a dead faint and a dire need for smelling salts, hehe

Have a good week, furriends!

PS. The housekeeper had a great Mother's Day. Hope your moms did, too!

TOM

M is for...

Hi, friends~

Who was it - the Mamas and the Papas with the lyrics "Monday, Monday..can't trust that day...

I dunno, they just popped into my head this morning. I don't really mind a new week, but when Monday rolls around, I think of the end of the week and wonder what the heck is going to happen in between. Maybe it's because of the housekeeper.

We now have a leaky roof and that means a bunch of people here with a bunch of estimates for getting it fixed. If we haven't been visiting your blogs, we apologize. It's just been so hectic with one thing after another..My solution is to turn my back on it all and sleep.

Another day is on the horizon and I have one request: Let me know when it's Tuesday!!
