Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

The Resemblance is Uncanny!

Hi, friends!

We're going to wrap up Lent here pretty soon and welcome Easter! I love this holiday because it involves such a sunny way of looking at things. From the Resurrection to the coming to life of all the plants and flowers and trees and bugs and bees..!! See, I'm happy just mentioning all the things I love.

Now, I couldn't love all those things without remembering my mother. Now, I could have saved this for Mother's Day, but I like her hat so much that I'm calling it an Easter bonnet which I wanted to share much sooner! Please note, if you see nothing else on her headgear, observe the framed photo of moi pinned onto it. I've been told that I resemble her almost to a t. I think they might be right. Take away the eye makeup, the hat with stuff on it and ribbons, and you have me...but, you haven't seen her silhouette which is dainty or been captivated by her fragrance which is Highland Nip Flowers which she loves.

I get all my handsomeness from her 😊

So, Happy Easter everybody and enjoy celebrating happiness!!

Zippidy Doo Dah!

 Hi, friends!

Oh, happy day!

Another week and the temps are getting warmer and I've been busy checking out all the smells and goings-on outside. The windows are only open for a little while when it's the absolute warmest, but we'll take it!

You know what? It seems when I'm happiest, my cuteness, adorableness, and sweetness are off the charts!!

Wanna know a secret?

The reason I'm so happy here is because I just finished lunch and I had a wonderful helping of sardines!! They're rich in Omega 3s the housekeeper says, so really good for me. She buys them canned in water and I have them every couple of weeks or so as a special treat. They're not my main course which is usually chicken and herring, but off to the side. You ought to try them!

Love the Irish!

Hi, friends,

Coming right up is a big day around here since it's St. Paddy's and the wearing of the green. I'm sure glad we didn't decide to celebrate the day by Adopt-A-Snake, remembering our blessed saint and his driving the slitheries out of Ireland! I'll wear green, hey, no prob!

But, what I like best is something really special that I hear this time of year, and I want to share it with you:

Best wishes, enjoy your nibbles of corned beef or ham, and know your buddy Tom is available to tip, I mean nip... a few!!

Tulips Coming Up (Can Almost Hear Them!)

Hi, friends,

A little late this morning, but wanted to introduce my new header. Shows you how much I want spring to get here! We had beautiful tulips last year and the housekeeper thought they would look even better with a photo of me..haha!!

Just thinking this morning how the warmer weather with windows open and sunshine actually has one big drawback. The cuddles are discontinued. Bridget turns into this territorial maniac if she gets to the window first, forgetting all the affection she's bestowed on me for the last seven months!

So, it's goodbye to cuddles like this, but fortunately, we each can claim a window unless I insist on taking a stand where we both like to go which is the south side. (The housekeeper has the birdbath on the north side and the sun is at the other window where our famous battles take place!!)

Next time, we'll celebrate St. Paddy's day and maybe the open window with this week's temps getting up to 50!!!

Take care and stay well, my friends and have a good week!

Forward, March!

 Hi, Friends,

Call me impatient as a snail on steroids, but I want spring to come in the worst way!!

Winter means no open windows, just as simple as that and so frustrating. The last time we had window whiffies was in a past life? During the time of Julius Ceaser  or Caeser (does anybody know how to spell his name?)...shoot, I don't even remember when.

In case you need a little spring inspiration, or just want to see my handsome self basking in the warmth of a past sunpuddle, here are photos to thaw out the furs!
