Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Memories Monday/Valentine's Day

Hello and welcome to our reaching-out-to-hearts edition!

Even we kitties have memories of things that we've experienced.
I remember when the housekeeper went to a yard sale at a nursing home and returned with the photo of a kitty she really liked. It sat around, of course, with my wondering why she was drawn to it for some reason, especially since we didn't know the kitty.

One day, we took the frame apart - some of you might remember this - and found all kinds of memories someone had tucked in the back of it.

Here's another photo put behind the lady. Looks like a nice memory to me!

I guess whoever had this wanted to be sure the photos didn't get lost. But, trouble is, you forget they're there. It's sad, really. I guess we'll never know whose memories these are.

So, next time you pick up a frame or framed photo you're drawn to at a thrift store or a yard sale (those days will be here soon, we hope!), take it apart and see what you can find!

To all my valentines:

"Just remember this..
A kiss is just a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh..."

Purrs,
Tom

What lovely memories to find behind the kitty photo. It is a pity that nothing as written on the back of the photos to give a clue of who they were or when they were taken.
Maybe you could try putting the lady's photo on FB to see if anyone recognised her from the past.

that is a great suggestion from Eric and Flynn's Mom above. It is sad, could possibly have been brought to the thrift store by someone running an Estate sale, could have been someone other than family who brought the frames there.

We bet the lady in the picture was somehow related to the human who had the cat. :)

Our mom always gets kinda sad when she sees old photos for sale in vintage/antique shops. Once she picked out four or five and had some plan for a mixed media kind of project that never quite materialized. Oh well. Your find obviously slipped someone's mind. Liked Eric and Flynn's mum's suggestion.

How beautiful. We were thinking the same thing as the Island Cats!
