Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Social Distancing

Hi, guys!

Look out Merriam-Webster and move over for yet another new word to put in the dictionary!
Social distancing - honestly, the only social distancing I worry about is when I eat. In fact, I want to be in a whole different room since Bridget is such a piglet, snuffles down her food and then heads over to my dish. The housekeeper brings my food into the living room so I can eat in peace with no pressure.

Other than that, I've just been on alert, especially if I think someone's headed out. Hallelujah!
That's, of course, til they come back.

So, I've kept my distance. Kinda hard, though, if you're in the mood for head scratches and there's nobody around to give them to you.

Take care, my good friends. Keep your humans safe, too. Make sure they wash their hands, wear a mask (some parishioners actually look better with their faces covered, LOL) and they shouldn't be going someplace where they're not supposed to!

Sleeping the virus away,
Tom

Tom, our mom has to stand guard over us when dinner is served--Izzy would vacuum up our food too if she didn't keep watch.

Hey, maybe he and Bridget need masks!

It's such a weird time, Tom! People are outside, doing things, and it seems normal...but we should not visit each other, or gather in groups. By doing this, no matter how difficult, we will beat this thing!
Take care!

It sounds like you have this down to an art Tom! Enjoy your day and stay safe all.

Keep Verona and her crony virus away from the church, your casa, etc. Webster should be adding a slew of new words after this.

It's hard to keep your distance when the people are home all day. But it does come with the advantages of extra mealtimes and lots of extra attention.

We hope you, Bridget and the housekeeper are staying safe, too, Tom. XO

This is much harder for humans than us Tom. We all fit on the bed with Dad and each have our own favorite spot. If the distance closes (with some, not all) the paws flash. Glad I am so easy going, and have the best spot near Dad

See, I don't have to worry about such things. Dad can be a piglet at times, but I don't think I need to worry about him stealing my eats. On the mask thing- dad's getting used to wearing them at work, and especially doesn't mind on the days he doesn't feel like shaving!
