Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

I have a story for you about turkeys, Tom.
When I first met my husband his family got turkeys in to rear for Christmas and I used to help pluck them. Three years later we got married and I was still helping. Christmas came 2 months after our wedding and my FIL said he would give us a turkey for all the times I had helped.
Well, I think it was the turkey that no-one wanted because it was so big!
In my naivety I thought it must be cooked whole and never thought to cut it in half. I had to take every shelf out of my oven to fit it in.
We were eating it for days in every way imaginable. I have never eaten turkey since!

It's a weird time of year, Tom...as much as I'd like to hide under the covers and read books on my days off from work, there are all kinds of things to do...with friends and relatives.

Wanna hear something kinda sad, Tom? We don’t have any turkeys here. Could you send one our way?

You know, there's been a wild turkey hanging out in one of the neighbourhoods I've gone through via bus. I don't know if he's still there, but he was there for weeks in October and early November, someone must have been feeding him. I have fuzzy cell pics of him chasing the transit bus -- seriously.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you for stopping by with condolences on Nicki's passing. It's been a long time since I've blogged as "Fuzzy Tales" and been part of the cat-blogging world, so I appreciate your time and care. I know that we all have been there and understand.

Have a wonderful turkey day!

Kim

I agree, closed doors are the worst! My dad closes his door sometimes and it just makes me want in even more.
