Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

What Goes Up Must Come Down

Hi, furry folks!

The rectory is getting painted this week, starting today, so this entry will be short. I have to snoopervise from my window to make sure everything goes according to plan. The housekeeper is a wreck, but will no doubt make it festive. I'm surprised she hasn't baked anything for them, but she has provided the men with sparkling water in case they get thirsty. It's hard work!

All this fuss has made me super conscious of the inside of the house, too. There's a loft ladder that will take you up to where things are stored and I like to go up there and sleep. Going up is the easy part, especially for us cats, but the hard part is having to come back down.

I always get dizzy!

Actually, it's not too bad. I always forget about the coming down part when I'm anticipating a nice, long nap in a corner to curl up in. For the longest time, nobody knew where I was. That was so funny!

Hope you all have a good week ahead!

Off to nestle in my hidden nest,
Tom

You have to learn to climb up first, before you can learn to climb down.

Fr. Tom we used to have a stair to nowhere in our old upstairs house. If was fun to go down a few steps and peek into the living room or jump down and run up. Glad we have a fireplace to run around now
Purrs on getting the paint done. A few years ago we spent a week in dads office when the painters came

Good idea to supervise.

Hopefully your upstairs get-away is free of sniffy paint fumes.

It's nice of your housekeeper to get water for the painters. It sure is a hard work. And yes, coming down the ladder is always the hard part :-)

That's a great vantage point, Tom. We say on FB that the painting is all done. Yippee!
