Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Born on a Mountaintop

We haven't the foggiest notion how this came about, but the other day, Mom Julie started laughing over what I thought was nothing. Tinker was under this bench-type thing, watching the leaves come down and all she could see was his back and tail.

Now, I know we've probably had enough of the tock subject, so I knew it wasn't that..

Look closely, and what comes to mind?

Big and round with a tail attached?

Of course! Fess Parker as Davy Crockett and his coon skin cap.

You could put Tinker on your head (your hair might get a little messed up, tho) and you'd get the same look, hehe

So, anyway, with a human around here who has nothing better to do than think up stuff, we salute our own king of the wild furrontier, Tinker.

Heard the temperature is going to drop over the weekend. As my wise old grandpaw Tom always said: "Never pass up an opportunity to cuddle."

The man was never cold a day in his life.

Cheers!

--Tom

That was an insult to Tinker. ;-)

Actually, that photo just makes our human want to snuggle up and give him a big smooch! (Er, not too close to the back end, of course.)

Don't feel bad... when our momma saw the picture she thought...
"Tinker, Tocker, Soldier, Spy" (she watches way to much of the big yellow bird channel)

Hahahaha! We're not sure if we want Tinker on our heads but it's quite a thought!

I would definitely not want to be on my human's head! And probably not Fess Parker's either. I am not wearing apparel.

Ha! We've seen pictures of cats as hats. Tinker just might be the cuddliest hat of them all!

Indeed, Tinker would make one warm hat! :) Mom was clever to think of it, Tom! And i and my little brother loved to watch 'Daniel Boone' on TV afternoons after school. Though my brother had a coonskin cap, not i. I thought it was amazing that Daniel could throw an ax just perfectly and split that enormous tree! (Okay, i know, but i was really young then.) Hope you and mom Julie have an excellent weekend!

Haha!! That really does look just like a coon cap! Probably not nearly as comfortable, though.

Be sure to come by my blog to read about the Cats in Boxes photo contest, and enter to win free cat food and treats! YUM!

Tinker skin hat? He'd comb your hair with his claws as you wore him I bet!

Mom says having Tinker on her head would likely end in disaster, but she likes the look.

We just doesn't get it! MOL

Tinker's a little big for a cap for me, but I think he'd fit nicely on Caroline's head! Ha ha ha ha!

Tinker is the right color, but putting him on one's head might create a bit of havoc! It sure would around here!!

We'd rather wear Tinker on our heads than a coons kin cap! We think Tinker is much more handsome (and ALIVE, of course)! :)

Hugs!
