Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Which Way?

Hi, friends!

It's been so nuts around here. I'd hate to see if people weren't asked to stay in place, or whatever it's called. It always puts me in mind of the *lowers voice* froooozzen peeeople..Or, maybe Lot's wife. I don't know whatever happened to her. You remember - she was told, "Don't look!" And, what did she do? She LOOKED and turned into a pillar of salt. The husband was so distressed, he didn't know what to do, so he took her home. Now that she was salt, she was much lighter and easier to carry. LOL! He put her in their garden and there she stood. She became the inspiration for all those goddesses you see, standing tall amidst the shrubbery and flowers in fancy gardens like this one.

Okay - enough of that. Let me see. I can't think of a darn thing to post about, so forgive my rambling. When I can't think of anything, the mind goes in all directions.

Where was I? Oh, HERE! - Just kidding!

I'll leave you with a really cool quote I heard over the weekend:

"Know yourself. Or, at least take time to renew your acquaintance."

Take care and don't accept catnip unless you know where it's been!

Thank goodness I am doing what I am told and staying in place. I don't want to turn into a pillar of salt!
You are right about not accepting catnip unless you know here it's been. Nothing comes through our doors unless it has been disinfected first.

Most where we live have ignored all of the social distancing things. That is a cool quote though!

There is actually a pillar of salt beside the Dead Sea that is called "Lot's Wife." (I've seen on National Geographic TV) If Lot had kept herd animals, they would have licked the wife away in no time.

Interesting quote. I'm guessing all this alone time is making people get reacquainted with themselves. I went out and sniffed my catnip the other day. I could tell several other neighbor cats have been helping themselves.

Thanks Tom that clears up why there are all those stone people around. We like your quote and think more people, and cats, should take heed to know who they are, indeed.

Well, that's one good thing that might come out of this social distancing. Great quote, Tom!
