Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

The Wizard Is Waiting

We're off to see the...well, not really, but packed boxes are beginning to sprout here and there like lollipops!

Sorry, we haven't posted in awhile. Mom Julie has been so busy since she arrived home last weekend from a trip back to Delmarva. Talking about hitting all three states! She's been looking at new places for us to live in Maryland (Salisbury), Delaware and Virginia (Lynchburg).

Here are pics she took. None of houses, too many to share.

Didn't notice until I biggyfied that the mockingbird has only one leg.

This is the Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes, Delaware

It almost looks like the building has whiskers!!
Zwaanendael is Dutch for "Valley (or Dale) of Swans."

Here's pic of a wind turbine there, too.

I don't think the whooshing noise disturbs these neighbors!

In Lynchburg, VA, this is a skyway for students going to and from the university for access to restaurants, shops, etc.

Would you believe she took this while driving? Naughty, naughty!!
Tom, the light turned green just as I snapped it, my little friend..

Yikes! You scared me!

We'll be leaving Maine at some point, we just don't know when. It could very well be next spring at the rate we're going as we get our home here ready to sell with sprucing up the gardens, sanding the deck and chasing clutter.

Meanwhile, Mom Julie'll be working at the local catalog company for the holidays (like Jerry in my book). That'll take us into February when the season tapers off. Of course, the second book in the series is still waiting in the wings. Between you and me, I wish she would stop persnicketying around over every little phrase and word. She says it makes the story flow better. I say just hurry the hell up and get it done!! (I did like it, though, when she made up old Father Jack's favorite wine and cheese place, calling it the BeCheeses :)

Have a good weekend, furriends!

Zzzzzzzzz.....

UH OH not the "M" word.
We haven't ever moved, but we hear that is a word that shouldn't be in a kitty vocabulary.

Wow, we didn't know you were going to move, either! We've never moved ourselves, but our mom says it's a lot of work! We wish you the best!!

The last time we moved (the only time my human has moved since I've lived here), it was a big three blocks away! I can't imagine moving to another state. I guess my human's boyfriend is good for something - she says if he wasn't here, she would move to New York, all the way on the other coast!

This will be Mom Julie's 16th and FINAL move. Moving before prompted by her father's military obligations and then taking jobs all over the country for her career.

I know, whew!!

We just take things one day at a time. This move coming up is permanent, with our eyes on a retirement spot for her and a place where we can really kick back. :)

We move a lot. That's just what we do. My staff woman loves to move, and we only rent - so it is a lot easier. I have to tell you, though, it is the strangest hobby I have ever heard of!

Oh you are moving! Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, I think it's very nice around there. I hope you find the perfect place for you!

Fr. Jacks wine & cheese place name is great! Just a tantalizing morsel in the wait for the next book!
Maybe the mockingbird was hot standing on that light fixture so he just imitated a flamingo and stood on one leg?

We lived a long time ago in Snow Hill...not far from Salisbury. Just be careful, Tom, you don't get packed in one of those boxes. I know how your kind loves those things. Me? Not so much.

Your doggy pal, Sage

Good luck with your move! Just between us, Maryland is better than the other places. We were all born and raised (and still living) there!
