Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Pretty Bubbles

Mom Julie thought it would be fun to blow soap bubbles just to see what we would do.

That's right!  Soap bubbles!

In her effort to clear out junk, she came across an old bottle of soap bubbles and said, "Hey, guys, I have a surprise for you!" I kinda held back 'cause I wanted to see what Mitty and Tinker would do. Look at their expressions, hahahaha!

We looked up and there they were, pretty bubbles in all different colors, and there were bunches of them. We really didn't know what to do except gasp and get out of the way (which was actually very smart, 'cause they could have burst right on our whiskers!

While she's blowing the bubbles, she's strangling a frog singing:

I'm forever blowing bubbles
Pretty bubbles in the air
They fly so high
Almost reach the sky

(what sky? they hit the ground and burst before we knew it!)

Anyway, it was fun and definitely something different!

**Hi, everybody--Been getting over the flu the last couple of weeks, days of just hanging on, finally I was beginning to feel better on Friday. So much has happened and we are so sorry to hear Sammy is gone, and of course, we know our furriend Beau is with Cathy now. Our prayers are with all of them, but also with all of you that you stay well. Purrs and hugsxx

Those bubbles are fun! We have bubbles that are catnip scented. The only problem is they don't blow very big...not as big as your soap bubbles.

Sure glad to hear that you are over the flu. That isn't any fun at all. It has been a very sad week. Take care and have a super Sunday.

Soap bubbles? They look like lots of fun but at the same time... they kind of remind me of baths. Hmmm... I think I'm torn. Maybe one day my peeps will let me play with soap bubbles and I can see if it's more play than bath. Bet is it... Bet they're fun. purrs

We have a confession, which is appropriate since this is Sunday and all...We're terrified of bubbles! The mom tried to get us to play with catnip bubbles last summer and we both freaked, not once or twice, but three of four times. She gave up after that. :-)

We hope Julie feels MUCH better now.

So sorry that you have been under the weather too. You never think about getting the flu in the summer, but I guess it can happen. Hope you are completely over it now or very close to that point.

So sorry you've had the flu....that is no fun at all. We hope you are on the mend!

...those bubbles are funny! I've wanted to try that out on Katie : ) ...you know, I read somewhere that you can get catnip scented bubbles! Imagine that!

I am embarrassed to admit that ALL of us - even Binga! - are afraid of bubbles! The cat before me used to love them. They were the only thing she ever played with (her normal version of playing was hunting live critters).

Yeah, Mom Julie had been substitute teaching and right after last time, she came down with symptoms..she was real mad at herself 'cause she's usually so careful about germs and stuff!
Of course, it could also have been a lady at Mass who was cough-barking and she caught some of the "peace be with yous" (where everybody shakes paws)..hehe!

We're happy you are starting to feel better! Those bubbles look like fun. We should ask our mom to blow some for us. She used to, but we think she has forgotten about them. She's getting old, you know!

Glad to hear that flu is on the way out of town. Those soap bubbles look sort of fun; we especially love that picture of Tinker staring right at the bubble. :)

Big purrs and headbonks, sweet friends!

I hope I'm not saying anything taboo when I declare to the world that bubbles should die.

Die Bubbles Die!!!

I hope Mom is getting better now.

LOL. Love those expressions! Mommy bought some soap bubbles once and blew them in our direction. WE RAN for our lives which only made Mommy laugh like a mad woman....until she realized how sticky the floor got from the bubbles. HAHAHA right back at her!

These bubbles are pretty! When I blew bubbles for my boys, they enjoyed looking, too. They sure are fun and different.
I'm sorry you had flu - glad you are getting over!

Sorry to be late visiting. TW blows those soap bubbles for me cos I like to jump after them and smell the spot where they land. Actually, she hasn't done it in a long time.

I've had cats love the bubbles and cats that freak out when they see them. I, of course, still think they are great fun!

Love the second picture with Tinker. He's saying "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"

Hope you are feeling better today. I know several people who are sick with this stuff and it's sounds really miserable!
