Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

A Word From Our Sponsor

I don't watch much TV, but when I do, I really notice the commercials.

There's one that asks you to find your own beach.

I've tried.

Where am I supposed to look? I sit on a Catholic rectory windowsill, for cod's sake! And, what about those people who sit in separate tubs? Nevermind, I'm digressing again..

I think about how wonderful life is, then somebody has to come along and tell me I need to be someplace else. I just don't know how to manage it.

I have thoughts about people on beaches.

They look quite happy.

I think of palm trees, sunsets and a little luau music.

All while I'm lying on my own beach.

Bring on the hula girls!!

Hmm, our mom says that unless they're taking care re: sun exposure, they'll all end up with skin cancer too. (Our mom's so upbeat, isn't she?)

So the "beach" isn't always all it's cracked up to be.

Besides, you can be in a blissful state no matter where you live--as you already know!

Oh Tom, that is such a great picture. We have to agree. Our Mom hates the beech and she lived there close to one for 30 years. The sand gets into everything and then the skin cancer is a problem too. So you are just fine right where you are.
I will keep it posted how the feral cats make out.

We live right near the beach and we never see it! You've got the right idea!

Mai tais anyone??? We aren't too sure about the beach....we think getting the sand out of our furs might be hard - and not very tasty. Maybe we will take a nap and use our imaginations.

We have never seen a beach - but we would like to have a sniff of the sea air.

yeah, let's not talk about the beans sitting in separate tubs, MOL I think the beach might be a fun place to run and play!

You've got a magic carpet. Why do you need a beach? ;)

I live by the sea as well, Furkidsmom, but the waves and the seagulls terrify me. I prefer the birdbath and the sparrows in our back garden!

Tom, we like your kind of beach ... it's all a state of mind, right? :)

Hugs to you and Julie!

Thanks for the encouragement, Tom! We hope that we can make a difference, even if it's just a small one :)

Tom
We live very close to a big body of water (the Atlantic Ocean) and Mom never goes to the Beech. She says she has had melanoma once and never wants to deal with that again.
But it being in your mind is a total different paw of thought.

Every time I want to go to the beach, I just walk over to the bathroom and kick some cat litter around. Works for me!

Just think, Tom...the beach is like the world's biggest litter box!!

It's funny..just today I was hearing about a woman who asked to bring her cat to the giant litter box at one of the pet stores. She wanted to make sure the cat liked it before she bought some! hahahaha--true story!
I guess she was helping her find her own beach, too!

I have never seen anybody laying at the beach like you do, hahaha ! Humans would probably look very ugly from this view !

We live very near the beach so you can come here for a vacation...?? Lots of squirrels in the trees to keep you busy. Not to mention B*I*R*D*S....tweet!

You have your own beach and it's a great one where you can lie on your back :-)

Hmmm, this is a peculiar post, Tom. While we can appreciate that you'd enjoy the relaxation evoked by the sandy sight on TV (and look darn cute doing it), we just can't help but think of the beach as a giant toilet bowl.

Hi Father Tom, thanks for your recent visit to my blog (fourwhitepaws). It's good to have made your friend. Now that I know of your adventures, I plan to follow them regularly.

Willow always goes to her "happy place" whenever she is experiencing something truly dreadful, like clippy claw or just being held. Maybe she goes to the beach!
