Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Father's Day

Father's Day is Sunday, Tom.

That's right!

I thought we could give Father Will a book and Jack a pipe.

He smokes a pipe, now?

Yes, it's on his bucket list--something he always wanted to try.
What do you think?

Give me that bad boy.

Cats don't smoke pipes, Tom. Besides, there's no tobacco.

Can I play with it, maybe?

Or, give the stem a good bite, isn't that what they say?

Yes, Tom. Or, I can scratch you with it.

Ooh, right there...thaaaat's it!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

You know what to do with a pipe Tom—and you look great doing it. BTW, is that a peace pipe or a nip pipe?

I think that will be going in the cat toy box. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4

Maybe you had better not tell Jack that Tom had a crack at that pipe first!

heh, We agree with Miss Sparkle - you should probably delete the photo of the evidence, too! Our mom would not be skeeved by that, but it seems other people don't like to put their mouths on things after the cat has done it! We hope all of the fathers (and Fathers) there have a great day on Sunday!

Cats are NOT poisonous. If so I would have been dead 70 years ago. Sorry, but it's also been said kissing spreads germs too, and that has never bothered anyone.

Sorry, just had to say that. I'm not trying to start a fight, just finished with one elsewhere. We both won. Fun that was.

I'm thinking the pipe belongs in the toy box. M'Lady and I smoked, I the pipe and cigars till into our 60th year. Then we HAD to quit. We were lucky ..... whatever. Pipes make good playtoys for the kits, just don't let them light up with a bowl full of nip. That could be a bit too wild a smoke I'm thinkin .....

Y'all come see us sometime.

Now that's an interesting new toy. Hmmm, wonder what it would smoke like fully packed with the nip!

Well, folks, the pipe did become a cat toy after all (or at least that's what everybody's thinking. Between you and me, I tried a little nip in it and it's pawsome!) Anyhoo, it's now officially a cat toy and the nip's tucked away in a special hiding place. Jack got another pipe, one of those meershaum jobbies which makes him look like Sherlock Holmes.

Hope you had a nice, relaxing Sunday. Have a good week and don't forget to keep the fur tucked in!

We are not fathers, but thank you for the sentiment. :) Hope you had fun smacking that pipe, Tom. We would rather have eaten it.
