Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

2020 Here We Come!

I'm in such a happy mood!

2020 here we come
What are we all running from...haha

Look at 2020 closely. What do you see?

I see two swans right next to each other, like these!

2020

I like numbers, especially when I can picture them somehow.

Moving right along..or swimming along..aren't they beautiful?

We had a resolution swap in church yesterday. We'd been planning it for quite some time, so everybody knew, but I had to remind them of how it would work:

It worked out great!

I picked the one that had everybody going, it was so funny, but I wanted to give it a try.
It was "To be able to do yoga."

So here I am!

I have to learn to keep my balance!
If you have trouble keeping your balance, too, let me know!

Happy New Year!

Hogs and knishes,

Christmas Wishes

The very merriest of holidays to all of my friends..

Ok, so some of us aren't going to be all that merry. I've been through all sorts of Christmases, I have to admit. There've been glorious ones where everything fell into place, decorations and lights just highlighting the good spirits flowing everywhere. Then, there are other Christmases that come along no matter how you feel and it's more ho-hum. We have no way of putting off the holidays until we're ready to embrace them or we're in the mood.

This year, I'm feeling some of it, but not like other years. If you're in the same boat, come join me! It's just the way it is.

Just because we're not ready to give the holidays our full attention and celebratory spirit, doesn't mean we don't want that for our friends. You deserve love, prayers and all good things.

Especially in the New Year. 2020..wow..those numbers even look cool and it hasn't even started yet.

Enough of my ramblings.

Sending love and kisses and best wishes for whatever Christmas you're feeling. We'll talk about the New Year later.

My lonely string of lights just shorted out the whole place, lol!

10 YEAR BLOGOVERSARY!

Yippee and Merry Christmas, everybody!

The housekeeper and I put together some photos from Christmas past to celebrate ten years on our blog!

In the past, our kitty manger has been a hit and still is. Back then, members of it were scared I'd step on them!

We still have the manger scene and the kitties. Put where I can't get to them!

Here we are in an older Christmas card - Bridget and me. Back then I consented to wear holiday apparel. Not so much anymore. This was her first Christmas and we happily posed together for our friends.

What would the holidays be without food? Yummies were also featured in past blog posts, and we would be remiss if we didn't include these!

I say this looks like a face, a laughing giant cookie! Bridget sniffs and walks away...wait, she's walking over to her dish, haha! This funny face gave her an appetite!

In closing, just want to share this with you:

Happy memories we cherish of those days gone by
Of friends so furry and bright blue skies
The clock is ticking, dawn to dusk going quicker
Yet friends remind us as those candles flicker
Of the warmth of purrs and contented sighs.

Thank you all!

Blanket Heaven

Hi, furry folks and Happy Monday!

I can sleep just about anywhere, but I do like variety. I don't know about you, but I get tired of cat beds, even though they're made to be so soft and comfy. I like to catch a nap on a windowsill after some outdoor entertainment, on a couch or chair to be close to the housekeeper, her bed when she's resting and even the floor in a sunlit path.

The other day she was wrapped up in a blanket and after getting up and going into the kitchen, it fell to the floor. Hmmm...something different. I decided I would try it out.

When she came back and saw me wrapped up in it, I heard all kinds of aaawwwwws and how cutes! It was funny, but I'm telling you, I had the. best. rest. ever!

It's that blanket for me from now on...

Trying to stay warm at home and in heart,
Tom

Go Away With That!

Holiday greetings, friends!

This time of year, some humans dress their pets.
Not my thing. I don't mean dressing my thing, I mean, it's just not appealing to this hefty, furry mancat in all of his Coon Cat glory and holiness. I think I've made my point, although it does sound kinda full of myself.

This is the most I'll do and it's grudgingly.

No jingle bells, red felt trousers, black belt....wait a minute, maybe having a black belt wouldn't be so bad...I'm thinking karate..*high kick with hind paws*

Anyhoo, we're busy here getting ready for the big day. The housekeeper took another job and I've been sorely neglected. She's tired, cranky and isn't loving me up the way she usually does.

What can you do to make me smile? I'll take cyber kisses and hugs!

Lackin' in lovin',
Tom

PS - Tabbies o troutowne - Sounds like Daisy's just like Bridget, so you can feel my pain, haha!!
