Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Mancat Monday Playground

Hi, effurrybody!

Hope you all had a nice weekend and celebrated Mother's Day in style and shared goodies!

I just realized a few days ago how part of our living room is set up with all sorts of scratchy things, almost like a playground. Inclined scratchies, toy mice, the windowsill close by, a round and round ball toy and an S scratcher which I really like. All regularly sprinkled with nip!! (that's why I'm a little woozy in the photo)

And because we have a lot of things that keep our scratching needs in line, the furniture doesn't interest either me or my friend Bridget. I've caught her scratching at the rug when she stretches, but I don't tell the housekeeper. It's too much fun having her get caught and being put in time out (just kidding).

Hope you have plenty of favorite spots to play in!

Or sleep!!

Tom

You look very relaxed on your Ess! Flynn used to scratch on the carpet sometimes, but never the furniture. Neither used their indoor scratchers much but preferred to use trees on their walks.

We happen to love finding cat claw marks in stuff, Tom! It means our kitties feel at home in our home, and it's worth a few nicks and scrapes.

In our new house, we have a whole room that is devoted to our scratching things and toys and beds.

That sounds like so much fun! Our scratchers have been staked out by the large white whale and we need a new S scratcher. Maybe seeing yours will remind our Dad. Thanks
