Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Jingle Bells Keep Falling on My Head

OMC!

I'm staying right where I am.

We're one week into the Christmas season and already the house is turned upside down.

I try to be helpful, but it's just too much for me.

We actually put the tree up Thanksgiving evening and it's so pretty even if I can't climb it anymore. When did the branches start growing so close together?

I love the lights and how pretty everything looks. I can't imagine not having this time of year. What if we never had holidays?

We're thinking of you as you prepare for a time of joy and treasured friends, not to mention food and treats. Since we'll be moving next spring, we're tossing a lot of things like..would you believe..twenty-year-old wrapping paper? I was wondering who those stick men with spears were..hehe. We even came across our blue Hannukah paper which is so pretty. You've heard of Hannumas, haven't you? (Seinfeld, they tell me~whoever that is)

Now, I'm off to find some mewsletoe for Tinker and Anastasia..

We're sorry we never knew Ms. Judi-bug very well, but the CB has lost one of its dearest folks this week. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family as Heaven welcomes its newest angel. Purrs..

We love when our tree goes up. We used to climb it and sometimes it would fall over, but we don't do that any more. We love to whap all the sparkly balls though.
We are very sad Judi has passed on, but glad she is no longer suffering and in pain.

We're really loving the decorations! Surprisingly, Raz has ignored them!!

Mom did a lot of that "purging" off stuff before we moved to Florida. We're laffin' at the stick men with spears!!

Judi-bug will be missed by many.

We think you could make it at least half way up the tree if you give it a shot! ;-)

20-year old wrapping paper? Well, we bet our human has some leftover paper that's about 15 or 16 years old. Since she moved to this city. LOL.

My feline sister, Rosie, tried to climb the tree last year. We haven't put our tree up yet, but we will see if she tries it again this year.

WE are so sad about Judi. But at least she is pain free now.
Father Tom, looks like you are doing such a good job snoooopervising that tree. Have a great day.

We love Christmas, too, the birth of Jesus. It is sad about Judi-Bug, but she is much happier now.

I'm still trying to talk my mom into putting up our tree. I'd protect it from my bro, really! Anyway, she chuckled over the 20-year-old wrapping paper. Would you believe that she still has unused Christmas cards from the 70s and 80s? (She says they're Unicef cards and she can't part with them, whatever that means. I think it only means they've moved with her all over the place!)

You look great with your tree and I can tell you are ready for the season!

I actually had a wrapping paper problem for a while (that and Christmas cards) and I had to ban myself from buying any about 10 years ago.. I still have some from when I was married in 1990..

You look very pensive today, Father Tom. Hope there will be lots of treats for you under the tree.

Making trees with closer branches? Who'd ever invent such a thing? Heheh, mewsletoe...we love this! Our hearts and purrs go out to Judi-bug's family with visions of her chasing butterflies pain-free now. Purrs....

We agree with you, Tom. WE love this time of year, too! :)

Luckily, Sammy and Moosey show no inclination for climbing our tree, nor for whapping the ornaments. They prefer to snooze under its branches, often staring dreamily up at the lights.

We, too, will miss our friend Judi. But we are glad she is free from her suffering and pain.

too funny..... we don't get too many decorations around here. Something about mom not being home much and maurading cats. (we have no idea what she is talking about)

Oh it is so nice when the tree goes up isn't it!!! The lights are on outside and I've started decorating our house too :-)

Ohhh your tree is beautiful! I think good thing about moving is that we can finally throw away things that we kept for a long time...for no reason. I have many things like that.
Have a happy weekend!

Nice post, cute pictures! Good to see you are getting in the Christmas spirit!

I probably have 20 year old wrapping paper here, too. But there is nothing like an impending move to inspire a good "cleanse." MOL.

You're doing a good job of protecting the tree. Keep up the good work. You have 25 more days to go.

Mommy and Daddy went to the mall this afternoon and all the Christmas decoration really got them into the holiday mood. So our question is, since WE can't go to the mall, where's OUR Christmas decoration? Huh?

I hope we get our tree up this year! We are good and never climb it so I don't see why my human would not want to spend a day decorating for us!

Father Tom, I am sure you will find a way to climb the tree! Go on …… ;)

Our tree is not up yet! Probably because Ernie climbs it and knocks stuff off of it. He ruins it for us good cats.
