Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

Senility and Peas

Things around here have been hectic as we're still pimping primping our house for sale. You know, cleaning, polishing cabinet knobs (I kid you not), updates and other stuff. Everything has to be just so..

 ***********!!!SENILITY ALERT!!!***********
(we might want to add that sound that comes with TV interruptions for national emergencies..)

Just to show how bad it's gotten, at suppertime the other day, Mom Julie was getting out a bag of peas from the freezer. They had been opened already, put into another bag, but she forgot to zip it up and when she dropped it..

Oh, my Cod! There were peas everywhere! Peas to the left, peas to the right, peas up my in my ears

How do you approach a thousand tiny, green balls?

I know I wasn't much help. She was standing with her mouth wide open, not believing her eyes, I guess. I did scout beneath cabinets to make sure she didn't miss any as she cleaned up. Can you imagine a buyer finding a bunch of peas under the fridge or a stray one behind the door?

Finally, after the initial shock, they were finally swept away.

I don't know if this has happened to you, but accidents in the kitchen really are a hoot. People running around like their pants are on fire. Of course, you and I just try to stay out of the way, keep a level head and call it good.

 So long, peas!

--Tom

LOL! If that bag of peas had dropped in OUR kitchen, you can be sure Mommy would be screaming at Tutu to STOP eating them.

Thanks for joining the Senile Saturday blog hop—even if TW is too senile to know how to do a blog hop! Stupid human tricks always make me laugh. Thanks for sharing. Brian's comment completely cracked us up. Peas be with you, my furrend.

Oh my gosh! Senility and peas! That brought back to mind a story my great gramma told me about when her dad was losing it. He didn't understand the freezer so she had to make a false back to hers because when she came home from work he would have all the frozen peas spread out on the table trying to figure out why they were hard!
I'm sure it wasnt funny at the time, but I think it's a hoot now! (love the word 'hoot'!)

Khyra is right - any kitchen accidents around here are cleaned up by the dog. So I guess she is good for something!

MOL! Peas everywhere! It's a pity it wasn't a big bag of cat treats though.

That sounds like something that would happen to our Mom. What a mess of peas. Too bad it wasn't a bag of cat treats. Hope the move goes well for all of you.

How highly disPEASing!

That must have been fun chasing peas. We would have sent the flying under the fridge and the cupboards because that's just the way we are! You are much more helpful to your mom. MOL

Oh no, Tom! A mess indeed, but a colorful one. :) And you just sat quietly and watched your Mom sweep up.. right? Oh well, what can a cute kitty really do when his human makes a boo boo? :D Have a good weekend, sweetie!

Good one, Brian! We solved the senility in the kitchen in our house. The woman has one cupboard for our food and she is allowed in to feed us and to make coffee. That's about it.

Hey Tinker, Jet here. Hi Miss Julie.

BOL... sorry, but, we got a chuckle reading this.

Mom dropped a box of pasta, which my human sister INCORRECTLY left in the fridge (should be in the pantry sister, until it's cooked!) JJ and I helped Mom clean up... she heard the crunch, crunch of the dry pasta as she was sweeping the floor and the inside of the fridge!

Thanks again for visiting us and sharing your kind thoughts. Sorry we had to make your acquaintance under such circumstances.

We're just glad they weren't mushy peas !

That bag of peas sure did make a fine mess, MOL. I once dropped a container of black beans, and I'm still finding them under the fridge!

Holy Cat! Just look at all those peas EVERYWHERE! Moosey probably would've tried to eat them. He *does* like lettuce, after all.

Hope you have a great night, dear friends.

Hugs!

I've been meaning to come over and say something since Leo's birthday party and I keep forgetting!
I don't know if you noticed the 'pin up kittygirls' in Leo's mancat cave.. But I borrowed one of your Mitty's pictures. It didn't occur to me until later that I should have asked first.. I appologize for that, and for misspelling her name as Middy not Mitty in the credits.

Oh geez. Our mom is the original fumblefingers. She's dropped all kinds of stuff on the floor like that. Twice it was our kibble! Talk about a mad dash to gobble every morsel we could before she got the broom!!!! That was great!

Oh boy, tiny little green balls to whap.
