I feel my joie is swindled
I can't endure
For this I'm sure
My spirit has been Kindled.
You're right. I don't like Lent. I do my best, though, in the spirit of the season.
So--the question is: What does a cat in my position give up for Lent? Sardines? Dogs?
Here are some of the things I was asking myself:
Should I give up--
The comfort of a purse?
My drawer?
Should I try to hold my tongue?
Give up my balance beam? (I can't look!)
That's it.
I give up.
I can't decide.
And, I know I should, being a parish cat and all...
Come to think of it, there are some people around here who don't have to give up anything.
(Someone this cute shouldn't have to!!)
--Tom

Here's what I think ...give up, trying to give something up!
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
Giving up Tempations somehow would be fitting for a parish cat. LOL.
ReplyDeleteBut that's rather dire. We like Mr. Pip's take on it!
We thought we would give up giving anything up for Lent - is that OK?
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
ps Sorry Mr Pip we didn't read your comment until just now- oooops
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
We just read your comment Father Tom and Hannah wishes to say her Mum has found a big knot of furs under her white Bib and she is trying to give up letting Mum cut it out for Lent!
ReplyDeleteLuv and Kisses from Hannah xxxxxxx
pfffft - If your oomans don't give up anything for lent, then why should you be deprived!! You could give up lap sitting - yes that's it - deprive your oomans of having you sit in their lap during lent! Then you will both be giving up something. he he
ReplyDeletewe agree - give up giving up.... :)
ReplyDeleteOh Mitty, you are so darn cute. You sure don't have to give up anything. Sure glad to see you are such good friends with that doggie. Tom, we think that you really don't have to give up anything except maybe the purse. You are such a handsome boy. Take care all of you.
ReplyDeleteI think Mr. Pip is onto something! That last pic is adorable! Happy weekend everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteOh that last picture..that tummy! SQUEEEEEEEE!
ReplyDeleteWe think you are so adorable that you can get away with not giving up anything :-)
ReplyDeleteIf all the peeps aren't giving up things, I really don't think it's fair for you to have to do so. I wouldn't worry 'bout it too much.
ReplyDeleteWe agree with Pip!
ReplyDeleteMommy wants to snorgle that tummy of yours but she is going to give up on that for Lent. :)
Well you couldn't give up being cute for sure! xx
ReplyDeleteWe cats don't have to give up anything. We're exempt. I'm surprised being a church cat you didn't know that. HAH!
ReplyDeleteSurely Jesus wouldn't want someone as sweet as you to give up anything.
ReplyDeleteOh too much cuteness, head about to explode.... sweet kitties, great eyes, wonderful tummies, floof everywhere!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Tom! Yous just too cute for words! What did me give up? Catnip.

How about just throwing your paws in the air and saying, "I give up!" Is that good enough?
ReplyDeleteTom you are so funny. I know someone who gave up Lent, but I am not sure you are allowed to do that. Oh dear. I should not have suggested That!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a hard decision. Maybe you should sleep on it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should give up giving things up, Tom!
ReplyDeleteHaHaMeow! Great post! We luf that last pic. We like the idea of giving up what to give up. Our Mommy is giving up peanut butter. It's gonna be a looooong Lent.
