Notes from a parish cat and his author Julie Mackenzie

My photo
I am Father Tom Fish, esteemed member of the religious team at Temptation of Christ Parish in the novels by author Julie Mackenzie. As to my background, I was invited into the rectory as a stray, laid on the charm, and was invited to stay, even honorarily ordained and no less spiritual than my sidekick Father Will. He dotes on me to high heaven and forgives all of my street cat proclivities, whatever the hell that means.

What Am I Thinking?

You know, furriends, usually I'm right out there with my thoughts, but this time, I'm going to ask you to guess.

Mom Julie snapped these photos and I thought it would be fun for you to pick one and tell me what I'm thinking!

Braveheart

Good Cod, I'm about to go out of my mind!

There's too much cleaning, scrubbing, packing, tossing (fortunately not any of us, hehe) as we started preparing the house for sale this week. In the middle of all that, we had a shock!

It was a few days ago.

Tinker had posted himself in front of the blue cube in the computer room. It sat empty, but he wouldn't move..

Mom Julie thought nothing of it. He always sets himself somewhere, pretends to watch something and then goes off to Dreamland.

Not this time.

Eyes big as saucers, he was frozen in place.

Then, Mom Julie decided to move the cube.

Dun-dun-dun-dun...

Holy ***XX@@@@SSS**%%!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a SNAKE!!

IN THE HOUSE!!

"Pardon me, boys, is that the cat that took the choo-choo?"

OMC--how did he get in??

He was just a little guy, but he was long, and squiggly and SCARY!!

What to do??

Mom Julie took off the screen to the window, opened it, put a sock over her hand (you can't make this stuff up), and picked him up and flung him outside.

Just a garter snake, but still a shock to see him in the house. Fortunately, there are no poisonous snakes in Maine, but the ones that are around, you don't want to get on their bad side..:)

Now she's worried about him. She hopes he's going to be okay. Sheesh.

The Big Puss made up a story that he chased the snake away, but I know the truth!

Fibber!!

All for this week, my furriends,

Tom "sure glad I dodged that one" the Church Cat

The Wizard Is Waiting

We're off to see the...well, not really, but packed boxes are beginning to sprout here and there like lollipops!

Sorry, we haven't posted in awhile. Mom Julie has been so busy since she arrived home last weekend from a trip back to Delmarva. Talking about hitting all three states! She's been looking at new places for us to live in Maryland (Salisbury), Delaware and Virginia (Lynchburg).

Here are pics she took. None of houses, too many to share.

Didn't notice until I biggyfied that the mockingbird has only one leg.

This is the Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes, Delaware

It almost looks like the building has whiskers!!
Zwaanendael is Dutch for "Valley (or Dale) of Swans."

Here's pic of a wind turbine there, too.

I don't think the whooshing noise disturbs these neighbors!

In Lynchburg, VA, this is a skyway for students going to and from the university for access to restaurants, shops, etc.

Would you believe she took this while driving? Naughty, naughty!!
Tom, the light turned green just as I snapped it, my little friend..

Yikes! You scared me!

We'll be leaving Maine at some point, we just don't know when. It could very well be next spring at the rate we're going as we get our home here ready to sell with sprucing up the gardens, sanding the deck and chasing clutter.

Meanwhile, Mom Julie'll be working at the local catalog company for the holidays (like Jerry in my book). That'll take us into February when the season tapers off. Of course, the second book in the series is still waiting in the wings. Between you and me, I wish she would stop persnicketying around over every little phrase and word. She says it makes the story flow better. I say just hurry the hell up and get it done!! (I did like it, though, when she made up old Father Jack's favorite wine and cheese place, calling it the BeCheeses :)

Have a good weekend, furriends!

Zzzzzzzzz.....
